Step 1: Build Your Resume

Section 1 of 4
1.1

One page only. No fancy designs. Clean, readable format.

1.2

Sections: Contact Info → Education → Skills → Projects → Certifications → Extracurriculars.

1.3

No "Objective" or "Declaration" — outdated. Start with Education directly.

1.4

Quantify achievements: "Built a website with 500+ users" > "Built a website".

1.5

Use action verbs: Built, Designed, Led, Managed, Increased, Reduced.

Practice Exercise

Create your resume using Overleaf (LaTeX) or Canva. Keep it to exactly 1 page.

2

Step 2: Where to Apply

Section 2 of 4
2.1

Job portals: Naukri.com, LinkedIn Jobs, Indeed, Internshala (for freshers).

2.2

Company career pages: TCS NextStep, Infosys Careers, Wipro NLTH, Amazon Jobs.

2.3

Referrals: Ask seniors, alumni, LinkedIn connections. 40% of hires come through referrals.

2.4

Campus placements: Register on your college placement cell. Attend pre-placement talks.

2.5

Off-campus: Don't wait for campus. Apply directly. Many companies hire year-round.

3

Step 3: Crack the Interview

Section 3 of 4
3.1

Aptitude: Practice on PrepInsta, IndiaBix. 30 min daily for 2 weeks is enough.

3.2

Technical: For IT — DSA basics, OOP, DBMS, OS. For non-IT — domain knowledge.

3.3

HR questions: "Tell me about yourself" (2-min pitch), "Why this company?", "Strengths/Weaknesses".

3.4

Body language: Eye contact, firm handshake, sit straight, smile. Confidence > perfection.

3.5

Salary negotiation: Research market rate on Glassdoor/AmbitionBox. Don't accept the first offer blindly.

4

Step 4: After the Offer

Section 4 of 4
4.1

Read the offer letter carefully: CTC vs in-hand, bond period, notice period, joining date.

4.2

CTC breakdown: Basic + HRA + Special Allowance + PF + Gratuity + Insurance. In-hand = CTC minus deductions.

4.3

Negotiate if possible: Ask for 10-20% more politely. Worst case they say no.

4.4

First 90 days: Learn fast, ask questions, be punctual, build relationships. First impression matters.
